Aberdeen "still have a strong belief in what we are doing" but manager Jimmy Thelin accepts there will be "noise" until results improve.

The Dons are without a win or a goal in their opening four Scottish Premiership games, with just one point on the board.

Despite seeing their team win the Scottish Cup in May, there is a growing mood of discontent among sections of Aberdeen's support.

"I always respect emotions, I always respect our fans," said Thelin.

"So, if there is noise sometimes it is what it is in this business, that is why the sport is so big because it can catch everything in a human being."

And the Swede added: "It is emotions, it is togetherness, it is excitement, it means so much for so many people so it is not strange when things don't exactly go as you expected or are hoping for, then the emotions are there.

"But when you are working in it like a manager or a player you have to focus and do the job and do it really well and don't get distracted by noise or opinions.

"So, we want to give our fans more but also look ourselves in the mirror and do better in the future. It is a good point to have so many games now because now it is just games, recovery, games, recovery and now it is up to us."

'We have to do more to deserve better results'

Aberdeen host Motherwell in Saturday's Premier Sports quarter-final before going to Tannadice to meet Dundee United on Tuesday, and then another meeting with Motherwell, this time at Fir Park, in the league on Saturday.

Thelin affirmed his belief that "our team has grown, and every week we get stronger", which is perhaps not being reflected by results.

And he said: "You are building two things - the short term and the long term, but you can't think about this week, tomorrow is the game and we want to go to the semi-final.

"We play against a good Motherwell so how can we show ourselves with the intensity and the way we want to play tomorrow for our fans and get the result we need to go through?

"Everybody is working so hard to go in the right direction and sometimes when the results don't come it can feel that it is not in the right direction, but maybe it is but the result hides it.

"You always get what you deserve, we have to do more to deserve better results and we still have a strong belief in what we are doing, but we have to get the results of course."
