PFA Players' Player of the Year nominees announced

Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes and Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah are among the six nominees for the Professional Footballers' Association's Players' Player of the Year award.

Premier League champions Liverpool have two players among the nominees, with Argentina midfielder Alexis Mac Allister joining Egypt's Salah, who has already won the Premier League Player of the Season award, on the list.

Salah, who scored 29 times and provided 18 assists last season, is aiming to win the award for a record-breaking third time.

Newcastle United forward Alexander Isak is nominated after helping the Magpies qualify for the Champions League with 27 goals in 42 appearances last term.

United finished a disastrous 15th in the Premier League, but Fernandes scored eight goals and laid on 10 assists for the Red Devils last season.

Chelsea playmaker Cole Palmer and Arsenal midfielder Declan Rice complete the list of nominees.

The winner of the award will be announced on 19 August at a ceremony in Manchester.

Arsenal midfielder Mariona Caldentey is the leading candidate for the WSL's players' player of the year award.

The Spain international, the winner of the WSL player of the year award in May, scored nine goals and registered five assists last term.

Caldentey is joined by Arsenal team-mate Alessia Russo, who was the joint-top scorer in the WSL with 12 goals.

Champions Chelsea were represented by Scottish midfielder Erin Cuthbert, who scored four times as the Blues won the WSL for the sixth year in a row.

Manchester City duo Yui Hasegawa and Mary Fowler earned nominations, while Manchester United and United States goalkeeper Phallon Tullis-Joyce completed the list.
