Wales have held talks with highly rated teenage Tottenham Hotspur winger Mikey Moore about switching international allegiance from England.

The 18-year-old Londoner, who is on loan at Scottish Premiership side Rangers, has represented England Under-19s but qualifies for Wales through a grandparent.

Sources have told BBC Sport Wales that the Football Association of Wales has contacted Moore, with men's head coach Craig Bellamy among those to have spoken to him.

Moore is the youngest player to have played for Spurs in the Premier League, having made his debut at the age of 16 years and 277 days in May 2024.

He also broke Spurs great Jimmy Greaves' record of becoming the youngest English scorer in a major European competition during the club's Europa League-winning campaign last season.

Moore joined Rangers on loan in August and has made six appearances in all competitions so far this season.

There is no rush for him to make a decision on his international future, as several players have switched national teams over the years.

David Brooks and Jordan James are among the current Wales players who represented England at youth level, while Arsenal midfielder Declan Rice switched to England after playing in three senior Republic of Ireland friendlies.

As of 2020 there is greater scope for change, as players can now switch if they have played no more than three competitive matches at senior level prior to them turning 21.

Appearances in World Cup finals matches or continental finals such as the European Championships would prohibit a change of eligibility. However, appearing in a tournament qualifier would not.

Previous rules ensured that one appearance in a competitive match, including Nations League games, tied players to that country for the remainder of their international careers.
